For the second year in a row, Christmas will find Emfasis on the streets, as part of our Merry STREETmas II – Christmas on the Street winter activities.
From December 14th, 2015 to January 31st 2016, enhanced shifts of Emfasis will be in the most inaccessible neighborhoods of Athens and Piraeus on a daily basis. Our trained volunteer teams, mostly social scientists, will be offering: a) survival kits (sleeping bags, mats, woolen gloves, hats, socks, scarves, jackets), b) hot drinks (tea) and high-energy food (croissants, cereal bars, biscuits), c) personal hygiene kits, d) simple to read and use leaflets – maps for the shelters and social services of Athens and e) psychological support. All along this period, our volunteers will also be spreading awareness to the general public regarding the living conditions of all those who live on the streets, and way they could be actively involved through the various activities of Emfasis. Our main goal is offer camaraderie, smiles and a human touch during the festive season especially to those who feel alienated and excluded.
